Travel - Recreation - Experience - Knowledge

School’s Out will be once again offering exciting alternatives to our traditional summer camp program.  Interest based, week long day camps will be offered throughout the summer.  The camps feature many full-day field trips and activities focused on a central theme.  Children will receive some free time and off-topic recreation, but the primary theme of the camp will be consistent throughout the week.   The camps will be run by two veteran School’s Out staff.  All adventure camps will run from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm and will meet at Orchard Elementary (unless otherwise noted).  Before and after camp care is available for a flat fee of $10 per week. The charge for the camps is $205 per week (unless otherwise indicated).  There is a $25 deposit per camp, due at the time of registration.  

Two TREKS will be offered each week.  One for kids currently in grades K-1 and one for kids in grades 2 and up

Space Camp

Join us on an astronomical adventure as we explore the universe.  Our space travelers will learn about planets and stars, create cosmic crafts, and play galactic games.  The camp will culminate with a field trip to a planetarium!

Animal Adventures

Whoo whoo is out there in those hills and woods? Spend a week getting to know more about our animal neighbors. Farms, forests, lakes and homes, We’ll travel to Shelburne Farms, meet  llamas, tour the Audubon and Birds of VT museum, have a visit with therapy dogs, plus time to get in the water with the our aquatic friends

Dance, Movement and Yoga

Counselors: Emma and Erin

Children will explore different elements of dance and yoga.  We will travel to see a dance studio and see some professionals in action.  Campers will choreograph and practice their own dance to be performed in front of friends and family at the end of the week. Daily yoga with a certified instructor will bring balance to this awesome camp!

All About Art

Calling all artists.  If you absolutely love creating and have an imaginative mind, then this is the camp for you.   Get ready to work on projects big and small,  inside and out. We’ll be exploring many mediums and working with all the senses!

Animal Adventures

This week we will look at all kinds of living things that exist in the state of Vermont. If you like to pet, care for, discover and spend time with critters large and small then join us for this week’s TREK. Each day we will see new critters and explore the world from the animal’s perspective. Bring sneakers and a water bottle since we spend a lot of time outside.

Into The Woods To Build

We are headed into the woods to find cozy sites to spend our days building teepees, fairy houses, forts, nests and enjoying the gifts that nature provides.  Camp craft skills like knot tying and building outdoor furniture included!

Mission Impossible

Your mission, should you choose to accept it is to join this adventure based spy camp.  You will learn the basics of crime scene investigation, solve mysteries and learn necessary ninja and self-defense skills.  This message will self-destruct in 5 seconds.
 
Week 5 July 11 - July 15

You are SOOOOO Dramatic!

No auditions necessary to join this local theater troupe! Join us for a week of puppetry, skits, comedy and performance. Go backstage at the Flynn and enjoy a show with Very Merry Theater. Imagination and mischief, super heroes, magic, stories and adventure. Come act it out!

Treasure Hunting TREK

Got a little Indiana Jones in your blood?  Treasure Hunters will learn GPS and orienteering skills to locate geo caches and other treasures.  We will travel to exotic Vermont locations and use our wits to find hidden caches.  For more information on geocaching check www.geocaching.com

On The Beach

What could be better than a week of relaxing and enjoying our beautiful local beaches? Swim and enjoy the views on both sides of Lake  Champlain. Bring your lunch, swim gear and sun glasses and we’ll provide the rest! Rainy days? No worries, indoor beach day or a trip to an indoor pool!

Grow, Cook, Eat: International Edition -

Counselors: Ida and Kyla

Grow food, harvest food, cook food, and (most importantly) EAT FOOD! Campers will travel to local farms to learn about food production and return with fresh ingredients that will be used to create delicious treats and meals. This summer we will focus on cuisine from all over the world!
*** This TREK will meet at FH Tuttle middle school and be picked up at Tuttle by 4:00 pm.  There is no extended day option for this camp**

 

Week 7 July 25 - July 29

Grow, Cook, Eat

Emphasis on the EAT here, join in on a week of local food and adventure. Pizza party, garden and restaurant tours, lets find out how to grow it, make it and eat it!

Super Hero Camp

Campers will explore the world of movies and comics while learning how to be a real-life superhero who stands up for what is right.  Campers will use their imaginations to create their own comics and movie trailers.

We like to Move it, Move it!

Not your traditional sports week, this Trek is for the wigglers and the thinkers. Orchard Olympics, yoga, swimming, gymnastics, guest coaches, low ropes course and more. Join us and stretch all your muscles as we spend the week stretching our limits and MOVING IT!

Photography TREK

Join us this summer while we escape to cool places, capture scenes of summer with digital cameras, learn the basics of photography and have a little fun while we’re at it. We will travel by bus to a handful of scenic Vermont locations to photograph and enjoy the beauty of outdoors and summer.

Let’s Make Music

Let’s make a joyful noise! Get your rock star, conductor, diva hats on! This is a hands on week of singing, playing and making instruments. Taiko and African drumming, orchestra instruments, Rock and Roll and more.

Flight Academy

Listen up, pilots: This is your chance to explore the world of flight.  Campers will study aerodynamics, build their own planes and rockets, and go on some very special, top-secret flight related field trips.

Hours
All TREK camps will run from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm and will meet at Orchard (unless otherwise noted).  

Extended Hours
Need a little more flexibility? Children can be dropped off before 9:00 am (no earlier than 7:30 am) and kept later than 4:00 pm (but no later than 6:00 pm) for a flat rate of $10 per week.  You must register for this service when you enroll in the TREK camp.


Cost
$205 per week ($195/sibling)

Registration
Enrollment will begin online March 14th. Visit this page at that time to enroll.  Email confirmation of enrollment will be sent within 2 weeks of registration.  A full schedule of events will be sent to campers in May.
